If you want a thinner weight paper that still gives high-quality colorful prints, we recommend the Koala 29lb Inkjet Matte Photo Paper. The only downside is that it has a watermark on the back. For a double-sided version of this paper, use the Red River 26lb ColorJet Paper
For the best glossy paper for printables, use the Koala 36lb Inkjet Glossy Photo Paper. We love making chip bags with this paper!

WHY SHOULD I USE PHOTO PAPER?

If you’ve been printing with regular copy paper all this time, get ready to have your mind blown! There is a big difference between regular paper and copy paper. Spoiler alert: photo paper is the best paper for printables!

Photo paper has a special coating on it that allows for more even distribution of inkjet printer ink. This results in more vibrant colors and better overall quality of your prints!

We compared a few of our favorite YayDay Paper Co. printables on the Hammermill 32lb. paper and on Koala 29lb Photo Matte Paper. Here’s the results:

We printed our “Like a Snack” note sheets on Koala 29lb Photo Matte Paper and Hammermill 32lb paper. The photo paper resulted in much brighter colors! For this kind of project, you may be fine with a less bright print, though, since it’s just a note sheet..
Check out the difference here! The green and yellow colors on our Citrus Planner sheets is much brighter when printing on Koala 29lb photo paper.
When it comes to printing out our colorful “Sun’s Out” patterned papers, we highly recommend using photo paper! In this photo, we printed onto Canon Photo Matte Paper and the difference is incredible.
